Online security should never be taken lightly, especially nowadays when hackers come up with all sorts of ingenious methods to infiltrate our gadgets. 11 apps had recently been banned by Google from its Play Store, and the number of those who might have been victims of the malicious software goes up to 60 million, as PhoneArena.com reveals.

Therefore, you should do your best to avoid the apps that Google banned. And if you already installed them on your phone, you should delete them ASAP. Here are the apps in question, as revealed by The Wall Street Journal:

  • Speed Camera Radar
  • Al-Moazin Lite (Prayer Times)
  • Wi-Fi Mouse (remote control PC)
  • QR & Barcode Scanner (developed by AppSource Hub)
  • Qibla Compass – Ramadan 2022
  • Simple weather & clock widget (developed by Difer)
  • Handcent Next SMS-Text with MMS
  • Smart Kit 360
  • Al Quran MP3 – 50 Reciters & Translation Audio
  • Full Quran MP3 – 50+ Languages & Translation Audio
  • Audiosdroid Audio Studio DAW

All of these 11 apps are free, which is an unsurprising move. You obviously need to attract as many users as possible when you have an app that acts in a malicious way on a device. Most phone users aren’t too willing to pay for apps, which is completely understandable when there are so many out there.

Otherwise, the Play Store remains highly trusted, as we’re talking about the marketplace that hosts tens of millions of apps and games. Most of them are even free of charge, but you shouldn’t act surprised if you have to deal with in-app purchases.

The Google Play Store’s official description says everything:

Enjoy millions of the latest Android apps, games, music, movies, TV, books, magazines & more. Anytime, anywhere, across your devices.

What do you think about Google’s new move? Do you think that it’s too harsh? Feel free to tell us in the comment section!
