The long-awaited game Far Cry 6 will be released only in a few days, and it shall be available for a wide range of platforms: Amazon Luna, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/Series S, Google Stadia, and Microsoft Windows.

From the region of Montana (US) where Far Cry 5 had its setting, the location of the sequel will be placed on a fictional island nation named Yara, which is essentially Far Cry’s Cuba. But although Far Cry 6 will be pretty interesting, judging by the info we have until now, it comes with a big shortcoming…

No ray tracing for PS5 and Xbox Series X

Surely a lot of fans would never have guessed that the next-generation consoles PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X will not support the ray tracing technology for Far Cry 6. It seems that they were so wrong. The sad news is brought by TechRadar, adding that Ubisoft itself originally made the claim of the lack of ray tracing for Far Cry 6.

Ubisoft, the publisher of Far Cry 6, declared for TechRadar the following:

Ray Tracing is a PC-only feature,

On console, our objective has been to take advantage of new hardware capabilities, optimizing performance targeting 4K and achieving 60 FPS for instance, all while ensuring that the experience on the previous generation of console would remain consistent.

Ray tracing is a 3D computer graphics feature for modeling light transport for use in a huge variety of rendering algorithms for generating digital images.

The upcoming game’s description from Epic Games Store is relevant enough:

Welcome to Yara, a tropical paradise frozen in time. As the dictator of Yara, Antón Castillo is intent on restoring his nation back to its former glory by any means, with his son, Diego, following in his bloody footsteps. Their oppressive rule has ignited a revolution.

Far Cry 6 will be released on October 7.
