Death Note 2: are we getting a sequel? The screenwriter had a lot to say about it

We’ve all heard of Death Note – the manga, the TV show, and the movie. And now, we’re ready for the next in line. Netflix has played a huge role in promoting the Death Note movie, and it has been a success. So we’re all wondering whether it will get a sequel or not. If yes, when will it be released?

Here is all we know about this topic so far.

Is there going to be a sequel?

According to some sources, yes! Death Note 2 is on its way. It is one of the 10 Netflix movie sequels that are currently in the works. Of course, after the first movie was released in 2017, rumors were everywhere about a sequel. It turns out they were all true.

The screenwriter of the movie, Greg Russo, has posted on his social media that Death Note 2 was “consuming a large part of [his] life” back in 2020, so we are very excited about this part. But the real question here is when it will be released. Turns out we might have to wait a bit for this one.

On IMDb, the project is marked as “in development,” and we don’t know much about it yet. But since rumors are found at every corner of the internet, we’ve learned some things.

People think that the movie will be released on the five-year anniversary of the first movie, on the 20th of July, 2022. But since we don’t have any update, and it’s almost November 2021, we’re not quite sure this is a good date to take into account.

As of now, we’re still waiting for more updates on this matter.
