If there’s one thing we all agree upon when it comes to depression, it’s that the condition is horrible. Not only that it makes you feel sad and “empty” on the inside – it can even ruin your motivation to do important things.

Therefore, depression is certainly something that you need to fight against or try to prevent from developing. Depression is also a widespread issue in our society, but that doesn’t mean that we should be intimidated by it.

30 minutes of workout per day can overcome depression

A new study published in ScienceDirect brings great news for those willing to get rid of depression. It says that if you’re involved in 30 minutes of workout every day, you’ll be able to reduce depression symptoms. The conclusion comes from a team led by Iowa State University after conducting research on 30 people who had to deal with major depressive episodes. The participants were asked to cycle and complete surveys about how they felt before and after the exercises.

Jacob Meyer, the lead author of the study, said, as The Hill quotes:

The cool thing is these benefits to depressed mood state and anhedonia could last beyond 75 minutes. We would need to do a longer study to determine when they start to wane, but the results suggest a window of time post-exercise when it may be easier or more effective for someone with depression to do something psychologically or cognitively demanding.

The World Health Organization (WHO) also has a lot of interesting things to say about depression. The Government agency says that 5% of adults from all over the globe are estimated to be suffering from depression.

There are plenty of causes that could make a person develop depression, unfortunately. Those causes include alcohol, family history, other health issues, and so on.
