If you have an Android TV at home, Google has some great news for you. The Android 13 update has arrived for such gadgets as well after smartphone manufacturers kept pushing it lately for their mobile devices.

You are now free to get your hands on the final release of the Android 13 for TVs running on Android, according to the Android Developers Blog. As you’ve probably already guessed, the update has its roots in the latest version of Google’s operating system for smartphones.

Who can benefit from Android 13 on TV

First of all, you need to make sure that you have an Android-based smart TV at home. Once you mark that demand, you need to have the ADT-3 Developer Kit. If you’re among those who want to run the Android Emulator for TV, it means that you can also benefit from Android 13 on TVs.

Google’s announcement couldn’t have been any clearer:

Android 13 adds further customizations to improve the user experience and increase compatibility with TV devices. Some of the highlights for this release include performance and quality improvements, and continued advancements to how users interact with Android TV.

As for the highlights of what Android 13 brings new to TVs, one notable change is the user controls the update assures when it comes to the preferred resolution and refresh rate for supported HDMI source devices.

Another interesting change is that the hardware mute switch states will be reflected in the privacy controls of the system. The user controls have also been updated for access to the Assistant microphone via the remote.

In recent articles, we also shared the news about the Android 13-based One UI 5.0 update arriving for Samsung Galaxy S21 phones and other models of the South Korean giant’s devices as well. Other smartphone manufacturers are also pushing the update, however.
