When you do the same things day in and day out, it can be easy for things to feel routine, maybe even a bit mundane. That said, there are plenty of ways to reinvigorate your life and add some excitement to the activities you engage in every day — from work routines to your personal life.
To mix up your routine and boost productivity, here are some things you can try to reinvigorate your workday:
A goal is something that you hope to achieve, so it makes sense that setting a goal can inspire action. Setting goals helps you focus, stay on track and provides motivation. In addition, achieving a goal can provide a feeling of fulfillment — another way to reinvigorate your routine.
When setting goals, make them specific, realistic and achievable. For example, instead of saying “I want to get in better shape” say “I’m going to walk 10 miles this week” or “I’m going to eat three servings of vegetables each day.”
Take time each morning to think about what tasks need to be completed that day and map out when you plan to tackle them. If possible, schedule time for more demanding projects first thing in the morning so you don’t keep putting them off until later in the day. After mapping out when you’ll complete each task, try to avoid getting distracted
Step away from your desk for a minute or two to get some fresh air and stretch your legs. Even if you just take a lap around the office or walk down the hallway to refill your water bottle, a small change of scenery can help clear your mind and reduce eye fatigue.
If you’re able to work outside of the office, consider taking your laptop to a nearby park or coffee shop to enjoy different surroundings while completing routine tasks. Just make sure you have secure Wi-Fi access.
