Watch Gameplay of the Classic Doom With Ray Tracing

If you would still be willing to play the good old classic Doom game, we are wondering why you would do such a thing when there are tons of better shooters out there. But then we realize that there’s nothing like the real deal and the roots of the entire shooting genre for gaming. That’s right: the classic Doom game perfectly qualifies for the description.

Somebody had the great idea of adapting the classic Doom game a bit for the gaming era of nowadays and adding a little ray tracing to it. For those unaware, ray tracing is that technology that makes gaming look much more realistic by emulating the way light can reflect and refract.

Thanks to modder sultim_t, we have ray tracing for the legendary and classic Doom game. Behold the outcome:

The very first Doom game was released way back in 1993, after being developed for MS-DOS by id Software. The game brought the player into the shoes of the space marine known as Doomguy. The protagonist had to overcome entire hordes of demons coming from Hell. Although the game’s graphics were hugely obsolete compared to what exists today, the title itself was a pioneer for the FPS (first-person shooter) gaming genre.

Nowadays, there are countless games that use ray tracing technology. However, there are multiple other ways of making a game look as realistic as possible. Techniques for enhancing a player’s gaming experience are practically endless, and many more are probably on their way.
