Twitter’s “CoTweet” Feature Will Allow Posts Made By Two Accounts Simultaneously

The team behind Twitter never seems to stop improving their service, and the CoTweet feature is now undergoing testing. As the name itself suggests, the feature allows users to work on a tweet together before posting it.

The new feature seems to have a positive role, as it aims to allow users and companies to enhance their businesses and reach new audiences. Twitter itself made the big announcement of the upcoming feature through a tweet, where you’ll also find a related video:

In this way, both people behind the tweet will be tagged in it. For instance, if you and another person are collaborating to create something, anything, you can both agree to post a tweet on that subject. You can also agree to add your own contribution to the post and get the other person to add theirs as well. Isn’t that great?

Joseph J. Nuñez, a spokesperson of Twitter, explained for The Verge:

We’re continuing to explore new ways for people to collaborate on Twitter,

We’re testing CoTweets for a limited time to learn how people and brands may use this feature to grow and reach new audiences, and strengthen their collaborations with other accounts.

Back in May, we found out about an upcoming Twitter update that was aiming to improve things when it comes to third-party apps. Therefore, developers would get more access to the reversed chronological timeline.

Paul Haddad, one of the developers behind Tweetbot, explained at that time, as The Verge quoted:

We currently use the v1.1 home timeline API to get a list of Tweets and then v2 APIs to fill in any v2 specific data (polls, cards, metrics, etc…). With this new v2 version we can get all that data in a single step.
