Have you ever wondered about the most amazing wonders that are present in our solar system? If so, then this article will be of great interest to you as it lists some amazing structures that have been discovered by astronomers and geologists. The Universe is fascinating and the wonders of this world expand far beyond our planet. Today we are going to list some of the most fascinating geological structures that exist in the same solar system as us. The list below represents some of the most interesting and awe inspiring sights that we can find in our galaxy.

  • Ligeia Mare

Titan is the largest moon on Titan and it has multiple bodies of liquids, including Ligeia Mare, the second largest lake on that moon. The lake contains almost exclusively liquid methane and it measures around 420 kilometers by 350 kilometers. The surface of Ligeia Mare is estimated at around 126,000 square kilometers. Researchers also believe the lake is connected to Kraken Mare, which is the largest liquid surface on Titan. Kraken Mare has a surface of 500,000 square kilometers and it also cotains mostly methane.

  • The Caloris Basin

The Caloris Basin is one of the many craters of planet Mercury, but it truly stands out. With a diameter of about 1350km, the basin is surrounded by mountains that reach almost two kilometers in height. The Caloris Basin is one of the largest basins in our solar system, and it was created after a large meteorite hit the planet. Volcanism has also led to the creation of wide plains between the mountains.

  • Verona Rupes

Verona Rupes is one of the most impressive cliffs that we know about. It was found back in 1986 by the Voyager 2 space probe. The cliff is seven kilometers high and it is believed to be the highest cliff in the solar system.
