The Idol is an upcoming American drama television series created by Abel Tesfaye, Sam Levinson, and Reza Fahim. The series is set to premiere on May 22, 2023, and is scheduled to air on HBO on June 4, 2023.
The plot includes a pop idol (Lily-Rose Depp) after a nervous breakdown that causes her last tour to be canceled. She begins a complicated relationship with Tedros (Abel Tesfaye), the head of a contemporary cult and a self-help guru. The two of them are included in the main cast. The first announcement of the series was on June 29, 2021, when the Weeknd said he would create an executive producing and co-writing drama. On November 22, HBO approved the production for a first season consisting of six episodes.
Meanwhile, the Weeknd’s new single release, “Double Fantasy,” will take part in the series’ soundtrack, among others.
