Samsung Galaxy S23 Has a New Software Update That Improves the Cameras

Samsung’s recently-released Galaxy S23 flagship series has rapidly caught the attention of many of us, and for good reasons. Apart from having some impressive specs, including powerful cameras, the new phones will keep receiving software improvements from Samsung.

The South Korean giant has released a new software update for the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra, which primarily aims to improve camera performance, as GSMArena has spotted on the company’s website. The update includes a change in the autofocus algorithm for faster photography, which means the camera will take a photo even if the focus is not entirely set when the user presses the shutter button.

However, users who prefer to capture photos only after proper focus can choose to prioritize focus over speed by navigating to the Camera Assistant > Prioritize focus over speed menu.

What else is special about the Samsung Galaxy S23 lineup?

It is noteworthy that all three models of the Samsung Galaxy S23, namely the standard S23, the S23 Plus, and the S23 Ultra, come equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor. This is considered great news as it indicates that the phones will have faster speeds. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor is currently one of the best processors available for Android phones. According to Geekbench 5 tests, it outperforms last year’s Exynos 2200 processor, which was present in the previous Samsung Galaxy S22, by approximately 1,000 points in the multi-core score. Additionally, the tests show that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor found in the Galaxy S23 series is almost as capable as the A16 Bionic chipset developed by Apple for its iPhone 14 series released in September last year.

The new camera update has been released in South Korea as part of the March update, and it is unclear whether units in other regions will receive the improvements with the April update or an update before that. The Galaxy S23 series is Samsung’s latest flagship smartphone lineup, and the new update is expected to further enhance the device’s camera capabilities.
