There was a lot of fuss regarding the PlayStation 5 console, there’s no doubt about it. Many presented it as the best gaming console in history. While we’re proposing ourselves to be as objective as possible, we have to admit that the PS5 console surely can compete for the title of the most popular console ever made.

But let’s not forget that quality is rarely a synonym for popularity. The Nintendo Switch machine has been the best-selling gaming console in the US for three years, but even so, it seems that it has reached the end of the road. According to Kotaku.com, the PlayStation 5 took its place.

Increase in gaming hardware sales for September

Mat Piscatella, who’s an NPD analyst, is the one claiming the aforementioned success of the PlayStation 5 console. He declared as quoted by Kotaku.com:

September 2021 snaps the remarkable 33 consecutive month streak that Nintendo Switch was the market’s leading platform in hardware unit sales.

The analyst also says that the gaming hardware industry as a whole has seen a 49% increase for September 2021 compared to the same month of 2020.

There’s no wonder how the PS5 console became so successful. We’re talking about the most advanced gaming console of Sony, if not from the entire world. The capability to run 4K graphics at 120fps, to output 8K resolution, or the integration of the octa-core AMD Zen 2-based CPU are all out-of-this-world features.

However, if you’re more into games for older PlayStation consoles, don’t worry! If you haven’t heard already, the PS5 console is capable of running older games as well through backward compatibility.
