Nothing Phone (2) Confirmed to Feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Chipset

You may laugh at the brand’s name all you want, but Nothing brought a pretty impressive smartphone to the world last year in July. Known simply as Nothing Phone (1), the device sports 8 to 12GB of RAM, a dual 50MP main camera, video recording in 4K format, and more.

It would only be obvious that the successor, meaning the Nothing Phone (2), will be even better. We knew since March that the future phone would get an advanced Snapdragon chipset, and we’re now getting confirmation that our sources were correct.

Nothing Phone (2) should launch during Q2 of 2023

Judging by the sources we have, we can expect Nothing to release its Phone (2) smartphone at some point during the second quarter of the year. We were initially expecting the phone to come out during the first three months of 2023.

In a recent tweet, Carl Pei, the CEO of Nothing, stated:

There has been a lot of discussion ever since we announced that Phone (2) will have a Snapdragon 8 Series chipset. Well here’s some news – it’s going to be the premium-tier powerhouse Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. A clear upgrade from Phone (1). Let’s talk about the key differences👇

Surely a lot of folks were expecting to see the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset running on the future phone from Nothing. While that won’t happen, we still have to admit that the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 is still a very powerful processor.

Let’s take a look at what the previous Nothing Phone (1) can do so we can have an idea about what its successor might be capable of! The first phone from the London-based company showcases an OLED display that offers a wide color spectrum of 1 billion colors, ensuring vibrant visuals. With a 120Hz refresh rate, every swipe and scroll feels smooth and fluid. The HDR10+ support further enhances the contrast and dynamic range of the display, bringing your content to life. Measuring 6.55 inches and boasting an impressive screen-to-body ratio of approximately 85.8%, the Nothing Phone 1 provides an immersive viewing experience. Protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5, this device offers both durability and style in one sleek package.
