Meta’s Messenger App Makes End-to-End Encrypted Group Chats and Calls Available for Everyone

Meta, the company formerly known as Facebook, brings some great changes for its Messenger app. The software now offers end-to-end encrypted group chats and calls to all users, according to MessengerNews.FB.com. The software is well-known for its numerous users who like to get involved in video chats and group messaging.

But the messaging experience of those who prefer using Meta’s Messenger app can be improved even more through the whole set of features that the recent update brings. There’s also the screenshot notification system, new GIFs and Stickers, Reactions, and more.

Perhaps the end-to-end encrypted group chats and calls represent the best addition. Here’s what the announcement writes:

Last year, we announced that we began testing end-to-end encryption for group chats, including voice and video calls. We’re excited to announce that this feature is available to everyone. Now you can choose to connect with your friends and family in a private and secure way.

However, many might say that the screenshot notification feature is just as useful. Everybody needs to know when someone else screenshots a precise message from a discussion that’s supposed to be private. Here’s how the new feature is described:

Last year, we updated the settings for disappearing messages in our end-to-end encrypted chats and now we’re introducing a new notification when we detect that someone screenshots a disappearing message. We think it’s important that you are able to use encrypted chats and feel safe, so we want to keep you informed if anyone takes screenshots of your disappearing messages. This is the same feature we offer in Messenger’s vanish mode, and now we’re rolling out this notification over the next few weeks for disappearing messages in our end-to-end encrypted chats.

Feel free to tell us if you’re happy about the new updates from Messenger!
