iPhone 15 Pro Rumored to Feature Unified Volume and Mute Button with Solid-State Design

The next-generation iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, as depicted in leaked CAD images published in a video on the Chinese version of TikTok and posted to Twitter by ShrimpApplePro, will reportedly have a combined volume button and mute button. The long-held suspicion is thus confirmed.

The volume controls on the iPhone 15 Pro are rumored to be consolidated into a single, extended button. A mute button that can also be used to turn the iPhone’s ringer on and off is expected to replace the mute switch, which has been present on iPhones since the first model was introduced in 2007. Both the volume control and the mute switch, so the myth goes, are solid-state devices. Two more Taptic Engines would be installed in the iPhone to provide haptic feedback and create the illusion of movement. This is similar to the Home button on the newest iPhone SE or the Force Touch trackpad on the latest MacBooks.

In addition, other CAD pictures in the movie suggest that the normal iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus models will retain two physical volume buttons and a mute switch. To some extent, this is to be anticipated. According to past practice, Apple will likely reveal the whole iPhone 15 lineup in September.
