Google Pixel Phones Receive the Android 13 QPR2 Beta 1 Update

Those who use a Pixel phone built by Google now have another reason to be happy. The Mountain View-based tech colossus has launched the first beta version for the second Android 13 Quarterly Platform Release (QPR), which is also known as Android 13 QPR2 Beta 1. The new update is currently rolling out for Google Pixel smartphones, and Google itself reveals the details.

Users must enroll their Pixel devices in the Android Beta for Pixel program if they wish to get Android 13 QPR2. That’s a simple process, as it can be done by everybody, and it doesn’t even require too much time spent.

Google didn’t even try to hide the issues that exist for the new release, which is otherwise normal since we’re talking about a beta. For instance, the Picture-and-Picture mode (PiP) will lead to some screen orientation issues. When the user accesses and exits PiP after the screen orientation changes, he will have to face a crash of the Settings app.

Here’s the list of Pixel phones receiving the new Android 13 QPR2 update:

  • Pixel 4a
  • Pixel 4a (5G)
  • Pixel 5
  • Pixel 5a
  • Pixel 6
  • Pixel 6 Pro
  • Pixel 6a
  • Pixel 7
  • Pixel 7 Pro

If you’re eligible for the update, you also have the chance to flash or manually install the latest Android 13 beta build. Google explains:

If you’d rather flash your device manually, you can get a system image for your device on the Factory images for Google Pixel page. See the general instructions there for how to flash a system image to your device. This approach can be useful when you need more control over testing, such as for automated testing or regression testing.

For this time of the year when the Holidays are coming, plenty of hardware products by Google will get some significant discounts -the Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, and even the Pixel Watch smartwatch are all on the list.
