Billions of Chrome Users Receive Warning From Google

Chrome is easily one of the most popular web browsers out there, and finding a way to replace it is mission impossible for many people. While there are plenty of browsers that can compete with Chrome in terms of quality, some people are very attached to Google’s browser.

There are 2.6 billion people who are using Google Chrome, and they now need to be very careful while using the app. According to Forbes.com, Google confirms multiple hacks of the browser that aren’t to be neglected at all. You can see a relevant blog post here.

Chrome users don’t have any time to waste at this point. Here are the hacks that Google talks about:

• High – CVE-2021-37977 – Use after free in Garbage Collection. It was reported by Anonymous on 2021-09-24
• High – CVE-2021-37978 – Heap buffer overflow in Blink. It was reported by Yangkang (@dnpushme) of 360 ATA on 2021-08-04
• High – CVE-2021-37979 – Heap buffer overflow in WebRTC. It was reported by Marcin Towalski of Cisco Talos on 2021-09-07
• High – CVE-2021-37980 – Inappropriate implementation in Sandbox. It was reported by Yonghwi Jin (@jinmo123) on 2021-09-30

Google has released a very important update that you should consider installing. However, the rollout will occur in a progressive way, meaning that you’re not fully protected. Until the installation, you could even consider installing another browser. Luckily, there are so many alternatives out there!

To check if you’re among the protected Chrome users, you can follow a simple method. Go to Settings > Help > About Google Chrome. The version has to be at least 94.0.4606.81 in order to be protected.

Last but not least, be sure to give your Google Chrome a restart. You might even need to restart your entire device. Restarting software and even hardware can get you rid of a lot of problems in life!
