Acer Swift Edge 16 Receives Display and CPU Upgrades

Acer has brought some interesting updates to its laptop lineup, including the Swift Edge 16, which now boasts a stunning OLED 120Hz display and a powerful Ryzen 7040 CPU. That means more power for the users’ gaming and video editing sessions!

XDA tells us what we need to know about Acer’s plans for its Swift Edge 16 laptop. The Swift Edge 16 retains its lightweight design, which features a magnesium alloy chassis and weighs only 2.71 pounds. The OLED display is capable of 3.2K resolution and an enhanced 120Hz refresh rate. The laptop comes with Ryzen 7 7840U or Ryzen 5 7640U CPUs, with the Ryzen 7 configurations offering AMD Radeon 780M graphics. If you want even more RAM, it can be expanded up to 32GB, and storage can go up to 2TB.

Acer Swift Edge 16 will cost $1,300

The Swift Edge 16 is expected to be available in July, starting at $1,300. It also includes Microsoft Secured Core PC features, such as the Microsoft Pluton chip for added security. Additionally, it’s also important to keep in mind that the laptop offers Windows Studio Effects, AI features with select models, and advanced connectivity options.

In addition, Acer introduced the Vero W6M Mesh Router, which is an eco-friendly Wi-Fi 6E router that puts energy consumption on the first place. Made with PCR plastics in the chassis, the router features a MediaTek processor and meets EU EN 303 645 (RED) Cybersecurity Standards.

Acer has also expanded its developer tools for its Spatial Labs technology, offering support for a new Unity Plugin and achieving conformance for its Open XR Runtime. This allows VR application developers to convert their apps to Spatial Lab Pro devices, providing a more exciting experience.

Acer has gone through a mixed level of success in recent years. The company has faced challenges when it comes to the highly competitive global PC market, where it competes with other major players such as HP, Dell, and Lenovo.

According to IDC’s Worldwide Quarterly Personal Computing Device Tracker, Acer’s global PC market share ranged from around 6% to 8% in the past few years, positioning it as one of the top five PC vendors worldwide.
