A Surge in Delta Variant Cases: We Were Warned

The pandemic doesn’t seem to end, and it probably won’t for a few more years. We had 2020 full of lockdowns, and then, as if the virus was not enough, new variants are on the go. One of the deadliest right now is the delta variant.

We were warned: the delta variant will find everyone who is not immune. We are definitely going to see a surge.

Dr Gregory Poland from the Mayo Clinic stated: “Do not be deceived that ‘I got this far and I’m OK.’ This is a very different variant. It will find you. This is a serious, current and present danger to you and your families’ health if you are not vaccinated. The longer we go with large numbers of people unvaccinated, the greater and greater the risk that a new variant will develop that will evade vaccine-induced immunity. So we are our own worst enemies here.”

Those unvaccinated are at high risks, and the fact that people won’t get vaccinated put others at higher risks, as well.

Poland has talked about children that are too young to get the vaccine and teens whose parents do not want them to get vaccinated. There is a significant rise in hospitalization among young people. Children should wear a mask when they return to school, even if they are vaccinated.

The delta variant is even more transmissible than the others, and about 83% of all of the new COVID-19 cases are because of the delta variant. The variant is now in every state from the U.S.

The entire country has about 239 deaths every day, and that’s an increase of 48% from the prior week.
