5 Nominations for BTS at 2021 MTV VMA

The South Korean band BTS has been nominated five times at the 2021 MTV Video Music Awards. MTV announced all nominees for each category yesterday, and the band that forever changed Kpop has been nominated for the following categories: ‘Song of the Year’, ‘Best Pop’, ‘Best K-pop’, ‘Best Choreography’ and for ‘Best Editing’.

BTS has become a global phenomenon

The super talented boy band has become a global phenomenon, and ARMYs worldwide are excited for each new award they receive. The 2021 MTV VMA ceremony will be held in the U.S at the Barclays Center, in New York. The date of the event is on 12 September, and it will be broadcasted on the MTV channel.

BTS earned nominations for several categories

Although BTS received five nominations, ARMYs wonder why the band was not nominated for the ‘Artist Of The Year’ category. The hit ‘Butter’ received four nominations:’ Best Pop’, ‘Best K-Pop’, ‘Best Editing’ and ‘best Choreography’, while ‘Dynamite’ was nominated for ‘Song of the Year’. Other Kpop bands nominated for the 2021 MTV VMA’ Best K-pop’ category are BLACKPINK, (G) I-DLE’s, MONSTA X, TWICE and SEVENTEEN.

Each MTV VMA category has several nominees. For ‘Best Pop’ category, apart from BTS, the other nominees are Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish, Harry Styles, Justin Bieber ft Daniel Caesar, Giveon, Def Jam, Shawn Mendes and Taylor Swift. For the category ‘Best Editing’ the music video and songs belong to several artists: ‘Leave the Door Open’ from Bruno Mars Leave the Door Open” – Bruno Mars,’ What’s Next’ –Drake,’ Treat People With Kindness’ Harry Styles,’ Peaches’- Justin Bieber and’ Prisoner’ Miley Cyrus and Dua Lipa.

For ‘Song of the Year’ category, BTS’s ‘Dynamite’ has to compete with ‘Mood’ by 24kGoldn ft. Iann Dior, ‘Leave the Door Open’- Bruno Mars, ‘WAP’ – Cardi B and Megan Three Stallion, ‘Levitating’- Dua Lipa and ‘Drivers License’ – Olivia Rodrigo.
