Chinese smartphone manufacturers are once again eager to prove that it’s not mandatory for a phone to be developed by Apple or Samsung to be among the best. ZTE, a company from China that is less known in the smartphone industry than the most successful companies in the field, is now preparing to release the ZTE Axon 50 Ultra, and there are strong reasons why we should keep an eye on what the phone has to offer.
Notebookcheck has spotted on Weibo and Twitter the news regarding the upcoming ZTE Axon 50 Ultra. The phone will stand out mainly for its satellite connectivity capabilities, which is still a rare feature for smartphones. However, we’ve already seen such a feature implemented by Apple on its latest iPhone 14 series, but more and more smartphones following suit in the near future clearly represents good news.
The release date for the upcoming ZTE Axon 50 Ultra is scheduled for tomorrow, April 12. It’s also important to remember that the flagship phone will also be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, meaning the best chipset that’s currently available for Android devices. The latest Samsung Galaxy S23 series that came out back in February also uses the chipset, which was a pretty unexpected move from Samsung since many were expecting to see Exynos processors instead.
We also have to remark on the lack of an in-display front-facing camera for the ZTE Axon 50 Ultra. Instead, ZTE will rely on a punch-hole display for the front camera, which is not a bad idea at all, if you ask us.
ZTE also understood very well that smartphones nowadays need as much battery power as they can possibly get. Therefore, the upcoming ZTE Axon 50 Ultra will feature a 5,500mAh battery and 135W fast charging. Let’s admit it: carrying around a charger each time you leave the house is simply not comfortable at all in 2023.
