YouTube Prepares the ‘Add to Queue’ Feature for the Mobile App

After we learned last time that YouTube enforces the battle against spammers, we can now find out that the famous streaming platform is preparing a long-demanded feature for those who use the app from Android phones or iOS devices.

The feature in question is “Add to queue,” and, exactly as its name suggests, it allows users to choose which video to play right after the one that they’re currently watching. Surely we’ve all been in that situation before when we’re listening to a video, and we would have wanted to open another one at the same time since a title appearing in the recommendations area seems tempting. But we also wouldn’t want to abruptly stop the video that we’re watching, which means that an “add to queue” feature would definitely be useful in such situations.

Only Premium users will get to “add to queue”

You won’t get to use the new “add to queue” feature of YouTube unless you’re willing to pay for the service. Those who choose to use the famous video streaming service for free won’t have access to the new feature.

Since the new feature is currently under testing until January 28, it will still take some time until it reaches everybody. However, the official rollout will begin in just a few days. Until that moment, all YouTube users can do is simply enjoy the rest of the platform’s features.

YouTube seems to drag some inspiration from Spotify regarding the “add to queue” feature, although the feature has already been present on the YouTube app for smart TVs. Users of the music streaming app have been using it as well for plenty of time, but perhaps we’ll be seeing it more and more on other apps as well.

YouTube earns an incredible amount of around $15 billion each year.
