YouTube Music Set to Introduce Podcasts, Blending Audio and Video for a Unified Experience

With the launch of YouTube Music’s podcasting platform, the company hopes to increase podcasts’ discoverability and accessibility. This change will make it simpler for listeners to tune in to their favorite podcasts wherever they may be by including both audio-only and video-only versions.

On Thursday at the Hot Pod Conference, the company’s podcast head, Kai Chuk, made the news. By adding podcasts to YouTube Music, the company is working to provide a more cohesive audio and visual experience for its users. As of shortly, producers will be able to upload audio podcasts to YouTube through RSS feeds thanks to the incorporation of podcast production tools within YouTube Studio.

Podcast playlists will be available on YouTube Music and will be compatible with YouTube’s podcast services, such as the YouTube Music app and youtube.com/podcasts. TechCrunch claims that unless users subscribe to YouTube Music, they will have to listen to advertisements while listening to podcasts in the background. In addition, viewers may easily toggle between the audio and video versions of each podcast episode.

Will YouTube ever product podcasts or sign exclusive deals? Doesn’t sound like there’s anything imminent here.

YouTube Music will not be the first or only place to listen to podcasts, but the addition of podcasts might help it compete with services like Spotify and Apple in this growing market. YouTube Music has the ability to draw listeners’ attention and develop its user base because of YouTube’s vast reach and the combination of audio and video podcasts.

All things considered, YouTube Music’s expansion into podcasting is a major step forward for the streaming industry. Podcasts may become more easily accessible and discoverable if they were included into the platform, allowing consumers to more quickly locate and enjoy their preferred podcasts. It remains to be seen whether YouTube Music can successfully compete with established players like Spotify and Apple in the podcasting business.
