YouTube Music Experiments With Live Lyrics and a Cool Redesigned Casting UI

YouTube Music is gearing up for a new approach: live lyrics and a sleek, revamped casting UI!

The new live lyrics feature was in high demand for a long time, so it’s not surprising to see it air on YouTube Music. The update is also part of one of the changes to the Casting UI that some users have already seen.

YouTube Music Bring the Live Lyrics in the House!

As previously mentioned, a modified Casting UI, which some users have already gotten, will include live lyrics for YouTube Music. Quite impressive, isn’t it?!

But how does the new feature work?

A Reddit user reported noticing a new user interface today while casting YouTube Music from an Android phone via a Chromecast Ultra.
The song title, artist, and album cover image used to be in the middle of the screen, but they were spotted at the right with left-aligned text. How cool!

The change also makes room for real-time scrolling lyrics with the verse that is being read highlighted in white (for karaoke lovers, this was a must!). The only thing that didn’t actually change is the artwork’s hazy backdrop, but that should be fine.

Other details include a list of credited songwriters right after a song finishes, and when the lyrics don’t pop up, the previously centered UI reappears.

However, as great as that could be, live lyrics when casting YouTube Music is not widely available.

Back in October, after a smooth collaboration with MusixMatch that broadened coverage, YouTube Music hinted at something new revolving around lyrics. Since the debut, there has been a “good influence on lyrical consumption rates,” according to Google. YouTube also asked users what they would like to see more and what would be better for the app, and the majority of answers pinpointed the “improvements to lyrics.”
