You Can Use Microsoft’s New Tool to Check for Your PC’s Compatibility With DirectStorage

Not every PC has what it takes to run DirectStorage, the DirectX 12 feature that accelerates SSD performance in Xbox Series X/S consoles. This technology will provide a much smoother gaming experience once it lands on PCs as well.

Microsoft is now ready to help you in finding out if you have the right laptop or desktop PC for DirectStorage. According to PCGamer.com, the Microsoft Game Bar feature from Windows 11 is what you need to access to solve the mystery. You’ll have to go to the Gaming Features tab from the settings menu, and there, the program will tell you which hardware components of your system are not ready for DirectStorage, if there are any.

We knew since 2020, thanks to Microsoft’s dev blog, that DirectStorage is coming to PC. The Redmond-based tech giant wrote on the blog:

Let’s face it: nobody likes loading screens in video games. That’s one aspect that DirectStorage should solve once and for all. The technology aims to get rid completely of those annoying loading screens.

Surely biting off more than you can chew by trying to force your PC to run DirectStorage even though the Microsoft Game Bar tells you that the machine is not ready certainly isn’t a solution. Microsoft knows what it’s doing, so you’d better trust its information!
