Xiaomi 14 Will Feature Better Performance for Selfies

You may be the ugliest boy or girl in town, but you still need to take selfies at least once in a blue moon. Everybody needs a photo of himself, whether it’s for personal satisfaction or some ID card, driving license, etc.

The Xiaomi 13 series that came out last year has been quite impressive, but the Chinese brand clearly wants even more. The company is preparing even more when it comes to the camera performance of the upcoming Xiaomi 14, specifically the selfies area.

Xiaomi 14 is coming out in 2023

There’s no precise release date available yet regarding the Xiaomi 14 flagship, but we do know that it’s coming out later this year. According to new leaks spotted by Notebookcheck via Twitter, exciting upgrades will come for all of the new phones of the Xiaomi 14 lineup. In addition to design and SoC improvements, the new models are also expected to address two significant features missing from their predecessors: enhanced selfie capabilities as well as upgraded USB performance.

Previous Xiaomi devices were limited to 1080p selfie video recording, which is clearly below what many other top smartphones are capable of doing. The Xiaomi 14 series is rumored to add 4K video recording for more detailed self-captured footage. Moreover, the future models are likely to adopt USB 3.2, following in the footsteps of the Xiaomi 13 Ultra, to replace the older USB 2.0 protocol found in the vanilla Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro.

The Xiaomi 13 Ultra, on the other hand, which means the best phone of the Xiaomi 13 flagship lineup, boasts a 32 MP sensor with an aperture of f/2.0, offering excellent clarity and detail in selfies. The selfie camera sports additional features to enhance the photography experience. HDR (High Dynamic Range) allows for improved contrast and color accuracy, ensuring that both bright and dark areas in the image are well-exposed. Panorama mode enables users to capture wider scenes, which is perfect for group shots or capturing stunning landscapes.

When it comes to video capabilities, the Xiaomi 13 Ultra’s selfie camera can record videos at 1080p resolution with a choice of 30 or 60 frames per second.

Therefore, Xiaomi is practically “condemned” to bring better camera specs for its forthcoming Xiaomi 14 lineup.
