WhatsApp Prepares the Implementation of a Third Blue Check Mark for Improving Security

WhatsApp never ceases to amaze its users. The programmers behind the widespread instant messaging app are constantly working to make it better and easier to understand.

A new article posted on Marca.com reveals that WhatsApp will introduce a third blue check mark as a measure to improve security. As we all might have noticed by now, there are already two check marks that appear when you send a WhatsApp message to someone. If two grey ticks turn blue, it means that the receiver has read your message. If there’s only a grey tick, it means that your message is on its way. In the case of two grey ticks appearing, it means that the message has made it to the destination.

Therefore, why would a third blue check mark be necessary? The answer may surprise you.

WhatsApp will inform you when a screenshot has been taken of your discussion

Did you ever take a screenshot of a discussion from WhatsApp? So did we. Nothing unexpected here, except for the fact that sometimes, such an action can be made with an unorthodox purpose.

The Facebook-owned messaging app aims to implement the third check mark for preventing cyber threats.

We’re eagerly looking forward to seeing how the new feature will work, although we don’t have any information about when it will become available. Otherwise, WhatsApp remains a great and highly-useful app, and the description from Google Play Store remains very accurate:

WhatsApp from Facebook is a FREE messaging and video calling app. It’s used by over 2B people in more than 180 countries. It’s simple, reliable, and private, so you can easily keep in touch with your friends and family. WhatsApp works across mobile and desktop even on slow connections, with no subscription fees*.

Surely not everybody is a fan of the idea for their contacts to know if they’ve read one of the sent messages or not. That’s why we also have the option to deactivate the feature from the settings menu of WhatsApp.
