We Have 3 Years Until Major Glacier From Antarctica Will Collapse and Raise Sea Levels Dangerously

The sea levels can rise to very dangerous levels, and plenty of glaciers from Antarctica will melt. Many lands would be underwater, and you can easily imagine the level of the disaster.
According to the New York Post, the Thwaites Glacier from Antarctica, which is also known as the “doomsday glacier,” is melting. The final consequences could be terrible. It’s expected that in just three years, the glacier’s ice shelf will shatter. This would lead to a major increase in global sea levels.

Beware of the Thwaites Glacier

The Thwaites Glacier is huge, as it measures about 74,000 square miles. It also extends over an area of about 120 km wide. It’s flowing into Pine Island Bay, which is part of the Amundsen Sea, east of Mount Murphy, and on the Walgreen Coast of Marie Byrd Land.

Ted Scambos, a glaciologist and US lead coordinator at the International Thwaites Glacier Collaboration, declared for the BBC the following, as quoted by the New York Post:

There is going to be a dramatic change in the front of the glacier, probably in less than a decade. Both published and unpublished studies point in that direction,

This will accelerate the pace (of Thwaites) and widen, effectively, the dangerous part of the glacier.

In general, according to Climate.gov, the average global sea level has risen roughly 21-24 centimeters since 1880. Furthermore, about a third of that came in only the last quarter of a century. Also, the rising water is not due only to meltwater. The thermal expansion of warming seawater is also to blame.
