Using WhatsApp on iPhones Will Allow You to Hide Your Online Status From Everyone

iOS users have been sticking with WhatsApp through thick and thin, and it’s understandable considering that we’re talking about the most popular instant messaging app on Earth. We don’t know anything yet about what apps may exist on other planets, but we’ll hopefully find out one day.

Jokes aside, for now! Those using WhatsApp on an iPhone or another device that runs on iOS have a new reason to continue likewise. Meta is currently working to implement the possibility for these users to hide their online status from everyone, according to WABetaInfo.

Two new options to hide the online status

Since Meta is already working to implement the new feature to WhatsApp, we’ll clearly hear more about it soon enough. We don’t have a release date at this point.

The famous publication mentioned above explains how the upcoming feature will work:

It will be possible to configure who can see when we are online right within our last seen settings thanks to two new options: “Everyone” and “Same as Last Seen”. For example, if you choose “My contacts” for “Last Seen” and “Same as Last Seen” for “online”, it means non-contacts won’t be able to see when you’re online.

Once the new feature of hiding your online status from everyone lands on your iPhone or whatever iOS device you own, you’ll be free to throw caution to the wind and give it a try! It’s indeed a risk, considering that a friend, your spouse, or a co-worker might get offended and tell you that it’s the last straw, considering that you’re giving them the cold shoulder once they find out that you’re hiding your online status. How could you possibly live with yourself after that?

Otherwise, people can still use WhatsApp on both Android and iOS devices, as well as a desktop version for laptops if the phone is also around and connected to the internet.
