Twitter Released A Formal Statement Detailing Its Future Plans

There have been many ups and downs for Twitter recently. CEO Elon Musk has been relatively outspoken about Twitter, offering his thoughts on the service on occasion, but official Twitter PR has been relatively quiet. Today, though, the firm broke its quiet with a blog post on its website, outlining its plans for Twitter 2.0.

Twitter’s mission is to promote and protect the public conversation–to be the town square of the internet. We have always understood that to reach this goal we must give everyone the power to create and share ideas and information, instantly without barriers. Today, we are a new company embarking on a new chapter, but our steadfast commitment to this mission has not changed.

The corporation went on to say that if it wants to become the “town square,” it needs to ensure that everyone can speak freely. The importance of human safety as a prerequisite to brand safety was also emphasized. Regardless, Twitter has admitted that exploration is fundamental to its existence now.

It thinks it can get more useful feedback and move more quickly to incorporate new features if it tests them in the open, in real time. More than that, it will help Twitter become even better for our clients, business associates, and users everywhere.

Following this, the blog post assures readers that Twitter’s policies have not shifted, that the Trust & Safety department is diligently toiling away behind the scenes to maintain the platform secure, and that the Twitter staff has access to all the resources they need to accomplish their jobs. It also acknowledges that the platform could be the target of novel attacks and promises to respond accordingly.

Naturally, Elon Musk and his seemingly arbitrary ideas and shifts are at the forefront of all this. This post provides the first hint of clarity; while it doesn’t provide any concrete information, it does indicate that the crew there is once again communicating.
