Tips to Wake up Early and Beat Your Alarm Clock

There are numerous articles that tout the benefits of waking up early. Getting an early start can help you be more productive, focused, and prepared for the day ahead. While many people like the idea of getting up early, they don’t necessarily enjoy it. These sleep and productivity experts share their best tips on how to become a morning person.

Start the day active

We often have a hard time getting out of bed in the morning. It may be for a multitude of reasons, such as feeling groggy from less-than-stellar sleep the night before. Getting up and stretching is an important part of waking up. Stretch until your muscles feel tight and fully move throughout your entire body with each step. Make a point of doing lunges each day, or dance to your favorite music to help get your exercise groove going.

Find your morning routine

How you wake up can have a huge impact on your productivity the rest of the day. Whether you snooze or get up jaunty and ready to go, you need a set of morning habits that makes it easy for you to get up and go. You want to make sure you get up and do your thing no matter what time it is. Whether that’s getting out of bed, exercising, or getting finances in order, set some time aside for your morning routine. Make it a point to do whatever it is that gets you out of bed and into a productive state.

Meditate

Turn on the lights, pour yourself a glass of water, and relax for about five minutes to get your energy flowing. This is where journaling comes in handy. Keep a journal entry or a notepad close at hand and fill it with whatever comes into your head that morning. After you have done this for a couple of days you will start to notice small changes in how you feel and the things that trigger your morning routine.
