The March 2022 NES & SNES Update for Nintendo Switch Online Becomes Available – Watch Trailer

Without trying to offend anyone, the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) and Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) games are considered extremely obsolete by most gamers nowadays. But even so, those “ancient” games had written history. Without them, gaming might have never evolved to the way we know it today when the world is teeming with ultra-realistic games.

Those who are members of Nintendo Switch Online are now free to enjoy a new update that brings more NES and SNES games to the rosters. If you’ve been a fan of Earthworm Jim 2, Dig Dug II, or Mappy Land, it could mean that you’ve gotten an amazing childhood! All of those titles had been made available for Nintendo Switch Online.

Behold the relevant trailer:

If you’re not familiar with what Mappy-Land has to offer, here’s a description from Nintendo itself:

DIG DUG II
Help DIG DUG rid the island of vacation-crashing intruders!
DIG DUG has decided to take a vacation on a remote island, but the POOKA and FYGAR won’t give him the chance to rest! In each round, clear out the enemies by inflating them until they burst or by digging up traps for them to fall into. But be careful that you don’t get too close to their attacks or fall into your own traps!

If you’re not being too pretentious when it comes to gaming, there’s a lot of fun available through NES games as well! A total of 716 games were released for the NES console. 673 of them were released in North America. Thirty-five games were available outside North America.

As for the SNES console, 1757 games were available for it. Seven hundred seventeen were launched in North America, 1,448 in Japan, 521 in Europe, etc. The SNES was based on 16 bits, meaning that it was a bit superior to the NES console, which was only based on 8 bits.
