The January 2023 Update For Pixel Watch Includes The Most Recent Security Updates

Following the deployment of the January 2023 security fixes throughout the Pixel product range, Google has now made available a new update for the Pixel Watch. The only changes it offers are the most recent security patches and bug fixes, which follows the watch’s first over-the-air update from the previous month.

It has been announced by Google that the most recent update for Pixel Watch users (build number RWD9.220429.073) has been rolling out, and it is anticipated that the upgrade will appear on your wristwatch within the next few days. Users of the Pixel Watch in Japan and Taiwan will get a variant of the software with the build number RWD9.220429.073.J1 when Google rolls out this update.

The update delivers the most recent updates for the Pixel Watch’s security, in addition to fixing a noteworthy problem. The following is a comprehensive changelog for the update:

The January 2023 software update includes bug fixes and latest security patches for Pixel Watch users. Items highlighted below are intended to be user facing changes of note in this release.
Watch Faces
  • Fix to address 3rd party watch faces turning off after 15 mins with always on display (AOD) enabled.

If you haven’t been automatically prompted to install the update, you may check for it manually by going into the Settings app on your watch, selecting the System menu, and then selecting the option to Install system updates. In the event that it is not accessible, continually tapping the screen that says “Your watch is up to date” will begin the update download. In order to get the procedure along more quickly, go into the connectivity options and turn Bluetooth off.

Fall Detection was not included in the unfortunate Pixel Watch update that was released in January 2023. Following a reset earlier this month, the function began surfacing for select users, but after the upgrade, the option is not visible under the area titled “Safety and Emergency.” In the next days, it’s possible that Google may activate it via a server-side upgrade.
