Tesla’s Lawsuit For Alleged Privacy Violations Disclosed

Tesla does it again, and this time around is about to get dirty! In an upcoming class action lawsuit, a California Tesla owner accused the electric vehicle manufacturer of abusing its customers’ privacy on Friday. After the secret sharing of extremely intrusive films and photographs taken between 2019 and 2022 by customers’ car cameras by groups of Tesla workers using an internal messaging system, the case was finally filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California has finally been made public. What a shame!

Henry Yeh, a resident of San Francisco and owner of a Model Y from Tesla, filed the case, in which he claims that Tesla personnel had access to the pictures and videos for their “tasteless and tortious enjoyment” and “the humiliation of individuals secretly filmed.” And it gets just worse.

Jack Fitzgerald, an attorney representing Yeh, stated:

Tesla needs to be held accountable for these invasions and for misrepresenting its lax privacy practices to him and other Tesla owners.

According to the lawsuit, Tesla’s behavior is so outrageous and extremely disrespectful. On behalf of himself, other members who are in a similar situation, and the broader public, Yeh claimed to be bringing the lawsuit against Tesla.

In addition to seeking real and disciplinary damages, the complaint asks the court to prevent Tesla from continuing its improper conduct, including compromising the privacy of consumers and others. Well, we’ll have to wait and see how that’s developing.
