StopTheFonts is the Latest Safari Extension You Really Needed in Your Life

A new Safari plugin called “StopTheFonts” blocks custom web and enhances privacy, performance, and other key things as well. A new Safari plugin by independent developer Jeff Johnson tries to restrict web fonts that are different from the installed fonts on your device. The best thing about this extension is that it is quite flexible and actually lets you set your desired restrictions for certain websites. Or you might as well block all online fonts by default. Quite impressive, isn’t it?!

The thing with the new extension is that is Johnson’s great effort in improving the Safari experience! The dev’s other Safari addition dubbed StopTheMadness, it’s a more comprehensive plugin that prevents a variety of website “annoyances and privacy infractions.” Other key features of this extension allow users to block tracking URLs, disable auto-playing movies, enable copy and paste on websites that don’t allow it (vital for banking websites), and more.

Johnson explains:

You can set StopTheFonts to block all web fonts by default or to allow all web fonts by default; […] For more advanced usage, you can create rules for specific URLs. There are two rule types: web font rules and web site rules. A web font rule allows or blocks a specific font URL on every web site, whereas a web site rule allows or blocks all web fonts on a specific site URL. Regex is available as an option for URLs.
