Snapdragon 7c Gen 2 Is Announced By Qualcomm For Entry-Level Laptops

The technological world needs more processing speeds even in 2021, and once again, Qualcomm proves that it’s a reliable company for the job. During the Scaling the Mobile Compute Ecosystem presentation, Qualcomm announced today (May 24) a refreshed version of its Snapdragon 7c processor for laptops. The updated chip was simply named Snapdragon 7c Gen 2, and it’s built for entry-level Windows PCs and Chromebooks.
AmandTech.com brings the news of Qualcomm’s new invention. Snapdragon 7c Gen 2 carries a clock speed boost, bumping the frequency up to 2.55GHz for the two Kryo 468 (Cortex-A76).

“Support for multi-day battery life”

Looking at the rest of the specs, Snapdragon 7c Gen 2 isn’t very different from the original. The new chip sports a dual-channel (32-bit) LPDDR4X memory bus, a Spectra 255 ISP, a Hexagon 692 DSP, and an LTE category 15 Snapdragon X15 modem.
Luckily or not, entry-level laptops are still very demanded by people, and not only because they’re cheaper than others. Not everyone is willing to do sophisticated stuff on a laptop like video editing, running highly demanding games for the hardware components, and many more. Therefore, it shall be interesting to keep an eye on how Qualcomm’s updated chip will impact entry-level laptops, as it was built especially for this category of computers.
