Say Goodbye to iPhone SE4 For Now: What to Expect From Apple?

The iPhone SE era was definitely one of the best things that happened at Apple. And it is no wonder why! The sleek SE phones were really perfect, and users had quite the experience when it came to a powerful processor, display rate, and cameras.

Unfortunately, that came to an abrupt end. Once more, no one knows how the iPhone SE 4 is really doing. We’ll get to see it sometime next year, or Apple has just decided to postpone it…forever?! Back in February, reputable analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said that the tech giant had resumed work on the product, but now it is not the case anymore. Uncertainty exists around what this actually signifies for the iPhone SE lineup’s future. Kuo explained:

I previously predicted that the iPhone SE 4 would be a derivative model of the iPhone 14. However, my latest research indicates that this derivative model will likely be an engineering prototype for Apple in-house 5G baseband chip technology and mass production validation, and there are no plans for mass production and sales.

Okay, so that’s the reassurance we needed so much!

Kuo’s statement appears to indicate that work on the real iPhone SE 4 is currently on hold, and it’s not clear if Apple will pick up again or scrap the device entirely. I mean, if we had to think about it, things are somehow fair, considering the company is currently focusing on the next lineup of iPhone 15.

What is the takeaway?

Apple is definitely still working on creating its own 5G modem, as Kuo previously claimed. That would totally enable the company to stop using Qualcomm as a supplier. The success of this engineering prototype’s tests will determine if this 5G modem will be produced in large quantities or not.

However, if the development goes according to plan, mass production might start in 2025.
