Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5’s Cover Display Will Be Able to Run Standalone Apps

Samsung is working on new foldable smartphones, and one of them shall be the Galaxy Z Flip 5 model. It is the successor to the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 device, and the expectations of the fans are off the charts.

There’s no need to be the reincarnation of Steve Jobs to realize that ‘foldables’ represent the future of smartphones. New details have now emerged regarding the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 due to NextPit, and we have new confirmation that the device will indeed stand out.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 will feature a larger cover display than expected

The new leak indicates that the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 5 will have a significantly larger cover display than expected – it shall even be large enough to run standalone apps. In other words, those apps will run in their full functionality, not just by displaying a notification or two. Therefore, if you decide to buy the upcoming phone, you’ll get to use various apps without even having to unfold the device itself.

Users of the Galaxy Z Flip 5 will be able to send messages, type, and also navigate using Google Maps without unfolding the device. Samsung plans to optimize the display through its One UI based on Android 13, allowing standalone use of official apps and services.

Let’s also not forget about the teardrop-shaped hinge, as it’s another anticipated feature for the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 5. It shall reduce creases on the inner display and enable fully flat folding.

The Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5 will both run on the high-end Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. The two upcoming devices will be unveiled during the next Unpacked event in South Korea, but at this point, the date of the event remains unknown.

Stay tuned for more news regarding Samsung’s upcoming foldable devices, as we’re constantly keeping an eye on the latest info!
