Samsung has revealed the plans to launch its first budget-friendly smartphone supporting 5G under the M-series, the Galaxy M42 5G.
The company has already offered a few details about the upcoming Samsung Galaxy M42 5G on its official website, so we know what to expect. However, some fresh leaks hinting at the smartphone’s processor are now available on the popular Geekbench database.
Here is what you need to know.
According to the Geekbench website, the upcoming Samsung Galaxy M42 5G wears the model number SM-M462B. The phone has scored 1779 and 650 points in the multi-core tests, and single-core respectively.
The Geekbench listing unveils the Galaxy M42 5G will draw its power from a Qualcomm processor with 8 cores and 1.8GHz clock speed: the Snapdragon 750G SoC paired with 4GB RAM. But that’s not all.
The popular database also hinted at an in-built modem for 5G connectivity. Previous reports have claimed an Adreno 618 GPU.
Unfortunately, there are no details about the Samsung Galaxy M42 5G’s onboard storage options. However, we should expect at least a 128GB variant.Â
Samsung Galaxy M42 5G will ship with Android 11OS topped with a custom OneUi out-of-the-box.

The Samsung Galaxy M42 5G is said to flaunt a 6.6-inch AMOLED panel with an FHD+ resolution and a sleek punch-hole design for the upfront camera.
Camera skills
Coming to camera capabilities, the smartphone will sport a primary 64MP shooter with still unknown lenses and other features. Upfront, there will be a camera of 32MP, expected to capture the best selfies.
Battery capacity
A battery of 6,000mAh with 15W fast charging support is said to keep the lights on for several hours. The details have been unveiled by the 3C mobile regulatory in China.
