Pokémon GO is Reverting the PokeStop Interaction Distance

All of you skilled Pokémon trainers out there should be aware of the new info, as your journeys to become Pokémon masters could be affected. According to Pokémon GO dataminers, the PokeStop interaction distance changes for some countries. Players will have to get closer to give PokeStop a spin, according to Future Game Releases.

The change has been implemented only for the US and New Zealand at the moment. Sooner or later, the update will become live worldwide.

The PokeStop Distance changes from 80 meters to 40 meters

It shall be interesting to see how the new update will affect the Pokémon battles and the trainers’ struggle to capture new Pokémon.

The official Pokémon GO blog is crystal clear:

Over the next few months, we’re planning to remove or change some of the bonuses introduced last year. We will not make these changes until after Pokémon GO Fest in July, and we will remove them first as a test in the U.S. and New Zealand starting at the end of July. We will remove or change them on a rolling basis in other countries and regions over time, and at the same time introduce new exploration bonuses.

Pokemon GO continues to be a huge worldwide phenomenon, whether we like it or not. The game has made over $5 billion in lifetime revenue during five years, as revealed by a new report from Sensor Tower. The game continues a relatively new concept in gaming: the augmented reality technology. This means that the players have to explore the real world while searching for those cute pocket monsters.

Not happy about pokemon interaction distance change, covid is surging back and more contagious, we need to keep our distance. Why make it harder to be safe, and if physically impaired this can be a game stopper. Please rethink the changes.
