Persona 6: Did Atlus Drop A Subtle Clue?

The Persona 3 and Persona 4 port announcements were made, while the Persona 5 Royal card game was shown off. There was one major piece of news that was missing from all of these: Persona 6. A lot of longstanding Persona fans are frustrated that Atlus, the series’ original developer, has yet to officially announce Persona 6. Atlus has been commemorating the series’ 25th anniversary as a whole for the past year. This has resulted in a slew of announcements, including remakes of Persona 5 Royal, Persona 4 Golden, and Persona 3 Portable. And while it was hoped that Persona 6 would be revealed for the first time at this anniversary celebration, that did not happen.

The Persona 25th Anniversary celebration was concluded by Atlus with a new concert broadcast live from Japan. Some fans were still holding out hope that Atlus may announce a new Persona game either before or after the event, despite having been warned that this concert would not. Many were left wondering why Atlus had spent the past year planning such a spectacular celebration of the Persona series if it wasn’t going to happen.

Fans’ disappointment in Atlus’s decision to withhold information about Persona 6 originates primarily from the numerous hints that were dropped during the 25th-anniversary celebration. Several pieces of artwork for this anniversary hinted that Persona 6 would be unveiled at its conclusion. Furthermore, it seemed reasonable for fans to get a glimpse at what’s in store for Persona in the future if Atlus wants to appropriately celebrate the legacy of the series. A lot of fans were let down because their expectations weren’t realistic.

Dropping hints

Flyers promising future exposes were distributed to guests at the party, but those reveals would not take place until after the party itself was over. There’s no direct reference to Persona 6, but the message is still crystal clear:

It is also with great sadness that we must bring an end to the everlasting momentum of Persona’s 25th anniversary. With the ‘Persona Super Live P-Sound Wish 2022: Crossing Journeys’ live concert, we would like to conclude it. There are so many things I would like to tell you, but I deeply apologize for not being able to do so on this occasion. I would like to share them with you at the right time, so please look forward to more information about the Persona series in the future.
