Oppo welcomed back in June the new Oppo Reno 6 5G series. The smartphone packs some premium specs and features, all wrapped up under a new design.
The Oppo Reno offerings have proved so far that rivals such as OnePlus or Xiaomi can’t stand a chance when it comes to performance matters. Now, we’re taking a closer look at the new Oppo Reno 6 5G to find out if it’s really worth a shot.
Here is what you need to know.
The Oppo Reno 6 5G is the first Android smartphone to resemble the Apple iPhone 12 series’ design, which is really great.
The phone sports a flat display, flat edges, and a flat rear panel with a sleek matte texture that is smudges-free. You might find it a bit slippery, which could be a bad thing if you don’t prefer phone cases.
The best feature, though, is the phone’s metal frame. It has a cool matte finish, and it can firmly hold the two sides together – the smartphone is 7.59mm and 182g.
Oppo Reno 6 5G is available in two color variants, Stellar Black and Aurora.
The smartphones under the Oppo Reno flagship series have always offered one of the best displays. TheOppo Reno 6 5G is no different.
The handset flaunts a vibrant full HD+ AMOLED panel with only a 90Hz refresh rate. The flat edges and the almost notch-less display turn out to be incredibly great for web browsing, gameplay, and video streaming.
But, the display lacks fluidity and brightness when compared to other mid-range phones. Also, the screen on the Oppo Reno 6 5G feels a bit dull under direct sunlight.
The Oppo Reno 6 5G draws its power from the all-new MediaTek Dimensity 900 5G-enabled SoC with 6 ARM Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 2GHz, and 2 ARM Cortex-A78 cores clocked at 2.4GHz.
The processor is also paired with a Mali-G68 GPU, 8GB LPDDR4X + 128GB space storage without any microSD support.
Oppo Reno 6 5G sports a triple rear camera module including a 64MP main camera, an 8MP ultra-wide lens, and a 2MP macro shooter. The features are:
Even if Oppo Reno 6 5G packs quite the camera features, the results aren’t always impressive. The reason?
For instance, the software processing is a bit off when shooting bokeh flare portrait videos. Also, the chipset-driven effect is flawless only if you know how to use the frame and the distance to the subject.
However, the photo quality is good, especially during daylight. The pictures show natural colors and look well exposed.
A battery of 4,300mAh with 65W fast-charging support can charge the smartphone in less than 40 minutes!
The Oppo Reno 6 5G can survive a day with moderate usage. If pushed to the limits, you’ll need to charge it within 24 hours.
Oppo Reno 6’s 5G connectivity and fast-charging capabilities are excellent if you use the phone for business matters. The boxy design might seem a bit annoying in the beginning, but you’ll learn to love it quickly, especially if you use a phone case.
Unfortunately, the smartphone is not the best choice if you like to take photos. Some features might seem a bit unresponsive, while others work just fine if handled properly.
