After companies such as Samsung and Huawei brought their own foldable smartphones onto the market, it’s now time for OnePlus to jump on the bandwagon as well. ‘OnePlus Open’ will be the name of the first foldable device of the Chinese tech giant, as NextPit has discovered thanks to EQUIPO.
Leaked images of the OnePlus foldable phone reveal an elegant design with thinner bezels and a taller form factor. It is rumored to feature a 7.8-inch main display and a 6.3-inch cover screen. The forthcoming phone is expected to offer impressive camera capabilities with Hasselblad optics and a rear triple camera setup. Under the hood, it will most probably be powered by a flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, which will make a good team with 16 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage. In other words, those who will buy the OnePlus Open will have enough storage space for their favorite content, whether we’re talking about games, apps, videos, or wallpapers.
OnePlus has officially confirmed that the OnePlus Open will launch at some point in August, although pricing details are yet to be revealed.
While earlier indications pointed towards names such as the OnePlus Fold or OnePlus V Fold, a recent trademark filing suggests that the upcoming device could indeed be called OnePlus Open, at least for the European market. However, it needs to be said that there are also other potential names in consideration, such as Prime, Wing, Peak, and Edge.
Hopefully, the OnePlus Open will also have a slot for memory cards. Despite having enough storage space for the majority out there, we need to admit that there are still plenty of folks who can’t comply with 256GB. However, plenty of top smartphone manufacturers don’t implement memory card slots, but we’ll find out for sure what the situation of the OnPlus Open will be pretty soon.
