On The Way: Mercedes EQE Shooting Brake

The Mercedes EQE is a state-of-the-art electric vehicle that offers superior range, a luxurious interior, and cutting-edge features. Many, however, have complained about its layout. Of course, it’s fantastic from the point of view of efficiency.   When it comes to style, though, the EQE’s effervescent profile is frequently compared to that of a Honda Civic. There’s no denying that the Porsche Taycan, Audi e-tron GT, and Tesla Model S all have more striking designs than the EQE.

However, there are whispers of a more stylish wagon model in the works. Auto Bild, a German publication, reports that Mercedes is developing an EQE Shooting Brake. There will soon be an EQE SUV, and it seems like the wagon will fall somewhere in between the sedan and that vehicle. The above rendering of a shooting brake EQE was developed by TopElectricSUV, and we have to say that we like it a lot more looking than the EQE sedan. Keep in mind that Mercedes has not officially announced the EQE Shooting Brake, so it is still only a rumor at this point. However, the EQE SUV has been announced and will make its official premiere on October 16.

The EQE sedan will debut in the United States sometime this year. The price has not been revealed yet, but we anticipate it to be between $75,000 and $80,000. Power output is 288 horsepower, and the EQE 350+ can go 410 miles between charges (WLTP). The all-wheel-drive EQE 500, meanwhile, produces 402 hp and can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 4.5-5.0 seconds. Likewise, the EQE is available in either a 476- or 678-horsepower AMG variant (the EQE 43 and the EQE 53, respectively). The latter can go from 0 to 60 mph in 3.2 seconds and is rumored to be the lone AMG EQE sold in the Americas.
