No More Google Apps for Older Android Versions

We almost cannot imagine our lives nowadays without apps and services offered by Google. Maps, YouTube, Gmail, Waze, Blogger, Lens, you name it. They’re all incredibly useful. They improved the living of many of us.

Technology always evolves, and so do the mobile operating systems. It’s a harsh reality for many who can’t keep up but a blessing for others. Google is permanently updating Android, although we might be talking about the best operating system for smartphones.

No more Google apps and services for Android 2.3.7 (Gingerbread)

According to Gizchina, Google began informing Android users that the devices running on Android 2.3.7 (Gingerbread) and below won’t be able to log into Google Accounts. In other words, those owning phones that run on Android versions released before December 2010 will be at a major disadvantage.

Zak Pollack, who is the Android Help Community Manager, declared as quoted by Gizchina:

As part of our ongoing efforts to keep our users safe;Google will no longer allow sign-in on Android devices that run Android 2.3.7 or lower starting September 27, 2021;

If you sign into your device after September 27; you may get username or password errors when you try to use Google products and services; like Gmail, YouTube, and Maps.

Except for the apps and services, users affected by the new implementation will also not be able to perform a factory reset, create new Google accounts, or change the account password.

While the dead-end for Google’s new decision is late September, it means that everyone will probably have enough time to buy new devices.
