New Windows 11 Preview Changes the Photo App’s Gallery View

File Explorer now features the “gallery” view from the Photo app in Windows 11’s latest preview. So, viewing all of your photographs in File Explorer is now simpler, thanks to Microsoft. The recent release of the Windows 11 developer preview features Gallery, a new function that enables you to explore the Photos app’s picture collection while exploring files and folders. Quite impressive, isn’t it?!

So, what’s there to discover in the latest change?

Windows Insider Build 23435 introduces the new Gallery view, which looks totally sleek. It is a shortcut that may be found in the File Explorer’s navigation panel pretty simple. The primary file-browsing window will now display thumbnails of identical photos from the Photos app’s All Photos view right after choosing Gallery.

And the best part is that if you have OneDrive Camera Roll Backup enabled on your phone, it’ll be optimized for retrieving your most recent photographs. You’ll be able to see them directly at the top. Great!

Microsoft discussed other features, saying that:

You can also add subfolders of existing sources to filter to a subset of your content, such as desktop backgrounds and SD card/camera imports.

Additionally, the file-picking box will now include a Gallery option, making it easier to attach photographs to emails, PowerPoint presentations, and social media postings. What are your thoughts about this?

But there’s also a catch!

According to the tech giant, the functionality is being introduced gradually and won’t be instantly accessible to all Dev Channel Insiders. So, what it’ll do is focus more on “monitoring the feedback and see how it lands before pushing it out to everyone.” And the worst part is that, even if it appears to be a feature that will be in upcoming stable releases, it actually won’t be. So, instead of that, we’ll learn about it in beta, and it might (theoretically) be eliminated if the company receives unfavorable feedback or decides to go in a different direction.
