As we revealed back in early June, NASA unveiled today, July 12, the first photos that the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) took of the Universe. You can feast your eyes on all five images via the space agency’s official website.
One of the images is represented by the SMACS 0723 galactic cluster, as our publication has announced in a previous article. The image shows an impressive number of stars and galaxies and also the most detailed and precise infrared image of the Universe.
While the five new images of James Webb will surely take your breath away, NASA’s Administrator Bill Nelson suggests that the team behind the James Webb telescope is just warming up. And who are we to contradict him?
Bill Nelson stated as NASA’s website quotes:
Today, we present humanity with a groundbreaking new view of the cosmos from the James Webb Space Telescope – a view the world has never seen before,
These images, including the deepest infrared view of our universe that has ever been taken, show us how Webb will help to uncover the answers to questions we don’t even yet know to ask; questions that will help us better understand our universe and humanity’s place within it.
He continues, as the same source quotes:
The Webb team’s incredible success is a reflection of what NASA does best. We take dreams and turn them into reality for the benefit of humanity. I can’t wait to see the discoveries that we uncover – the team is just getting started!
Except for the SMACS 0723 cluster, James Webb also brought images of the Carina Nebula, Stephan’s Quintet, the Southern Ring Nebula, and WASP-96b. Each and every one of these cosmic structures have the potential to remain forever in our memories.
