Microsoft Launches Copilot the New AI Personal Assistant Available on Windows 11

Windows Copilot, a special AI personal assistant for Windows 11, is now available. Microsoft has just announced the new AI tool and the fact that it is integrating it into Windows 11. How does this Copilot feature work? Panos Panay, Microsoft’s head of Windows and devices, explains:

Once open, the Windows Copilot side bar stays consistent across your apps, programs, and windows, always available to act as your personal assistant; […] It makes every user a power user, helping you take action, customize your settings, and seamlessly connect across your favorite apps.

Here are some of the features of the newly introduced Windows Copilot for Windows 11:

• summarize content viewed in apps
• rewrite content
• explain information
• answers to general questions (similar to a search engine)
• safely and precisely adjust settings
• take different actions on PC
• extend plug-ins written for Bing or OpenAI’s ChatGPT (for developers only)

Over the past six months, Microsoft has made it clear: the AI functionality will soon roll out on Windows. The reason is straightforward. Mainly because of the fact that AI will revolutionize how we use Windows in general. Quite impressive, isn’t it?!

Many had anticipated such a thing and that Microsoft would actually wait until the following major release of Windows. However, it is clear that the tech giant moved forward pretty quickly with its goals for Windows AI and decided to bring everything faster. But first, Windows Copilot will publicly enter the testing phase in June, then, later on, will be officially released.

Similar to how Cortana had its own designated spot on the taskbar in Windows 10, it won’t replace the search bar on the Windows 11 taskbar directly but will be a distinct Copilot button next to it. So, the new AI feature will be really in the spotlight!
