Microsoft Is Planning To End Support For Windows 8.1.

Ending support for Windows 8.1 follows the demise of Internet Explorer. In a support page released just a few days ago, the Redmond, Washington-based software giant announced the end of Windows 8.1’s official maintenance and support. In addition, Microsoft 365 customers have been advised to update their applications in order to continue receiving services. In January 2023, Windows 8.1 support will be phased off.

Microsoft has said on its official support website that Windows 8.1 will no longer be supported on January 10, 2023, which is six months away. In addition, Microsoft 365 Apps for Windows 8.1 will no longer be maintained following the end of support dates for the operating system. It is expected that Windows 8.1 customers will soon be notified by the firm of the termination of support for the operating system. Upgrading to a new version of Windows is highly advised to prevent performance and stability concerns.

It is highly recommended by Microsoft that you upgrade to a new PC running Windows 11 in order to maintain Microsoft 365’s dependability and stability. Windows 11 is already pre-installed on the majority of today’s machines, according to Microsoft. This is just one more reason to upgrade. Users who are unable to update their PCs at this time are undoubtedly many. In order to update to Windows 10, Microsoft recommends that these users purchase and install the complete version of the program. However, consumers should bear in mind that the support for Windows 10 will stop on October 14, 2025.  In this case, switching to Windows 10 is still a feasible alternative for those whose PCs do not meet the specifications of Windows 11.

Microsoft’s new Defenders product.

Microsoft 365 members will now be able to utilize Defender to safeguard their devices on all platforms, including Windows, iOS, Android, and macOS, thanks to the service’s introduction. According to Microsoft’s press release, in order to suit the specific demands of home and office users, security measures must be constantly evolving.
