Mass Effect 4 Brand: Players Turn Into “Agents” To Decipher New Teaser

About thirty seconds of distorted dialogue-filled teaser film for the next Mass Effect game was published by BioWare recently, however the footage did appear to depict the creation of a Mass Relay, which one fan has deciphered. That would imply that whatever mankind is up to, it’s doing it in spite of the council from the next Mass Effect game.

It is unclear how a defiant Mass Relay reconstruction might be executed. The fact that Cerberus appears to be directing reconstruction efforts is not encouraging. It makes plausible, in light of Mass Effect 3’s Destroy ending, that this technology is being developed using scraps of Reaper technology. The management and consumption of these assets would almost certainly be subject to stringent rules.

To begin, the main Mass Effect Twitter account thanked its “Agents” for deciphering the communication, implying that the new player will most likely begin the game as a member of a group that includes these “Agents.” It seems likely that after the destruction of the Mass Relays, these Agents are still keeping an eye on the people of Earth and possibly other parts of the galaxy in some capacity, as the development is now being documented by some other ship with a Quarian Captain. Given the censored title, Liara may play a role in it.

The new game will likely have players start out as one of these Agents and go on a mission with Liara. So far, BioWare has done all in its power to cast the building of this Mass Relay in a negative light. One promising path to inspire defiance is the prospect of a Milky Way Galaxy split and ruled by a fearsome and powerful new council.
